Many terms are used to describe for my niche area of expertise in the last 8 years, such as UI designer, Frontend Development, or Web Design. Originally coming from a Graphic Design background, I have found enjoyed bringing in various design elements into such a scalable medium. I have found the most success with the primary elements of design such as grid-based layout, strict color scheme matching, and properly focused typography. Ultimately designing for the web is centered around usability and following the rules of your target audience.
A quick list of examples of the projects I have designed:
I began using Flash since version 6 and continued designing and coding on all versions since then until and now use strictly Adobe Flash CS3. I have produced great results using Flash's native tools as well as integrating both vector and raster images from other programs such as Illlustrator, Fireworks, and Photoshop. Adobe Creative Suite CS3 has done an great job integrating all of these packages under one umbrella. Various projects I have completed have required doing client advertisements mockups within flash, or within one of the other programs and then matching everything within the Flash's vector environment.
Adobe Photoshop is my preferred design tool and have been using the various versions since 1998 and have seen dramatic jumps in the internal productivity tools and features and over the years. I began using Photoshop for image editing for the Photography industry before moving into the web environment. I now utilized Photoshop CS3 for client website sketches, user interface layouts, photo editing, print art, promotional ad pieces, and many other projects. I recently began tinkering around with Photoshop CS3 Extended and begin utilizing it's new support and features for 3D modeling with Google Maps Modeling API.
Adobe Illustrator has been a fantastic tool and I have been using it for diverse projects since 2003. I have utilized Adobe Illustrator CS3 for projects such as logo design, online brochures, conversion of pixel based images into vector elements, and creating custom vector images that are implemented into flash animations. The integration of Illlustrator CS3 with Flash CS3 has been a tremendous factor in increased productivity and performance of tasks.
I really began converting more web graphic tasks to Fireworks CS2 and have been increasing impressed with it's features now in Adobe Fireworks CS3. Adobe Fireworks CS3 has been extremely useful when creating and editing web graphics for both bitmap and vector type. The uses of Adobe Fireworks have meant more efficient web graphic productivity and fantastic scaling for integration with either Photoshop CS3 or Illustrator CS3.
Below is a quick list of other miscellaneous design projects and graphic design tools that I have used outside my daily responsibilities.
